UV protection

Recommended Posts

Only fish at night, and only on nights without moon. Come home before dawn and store all baits in a refrigerator - oh, and pull the fridge's light bulb. And buy a good pair of night vision goggles. So says Batman!

Mark, my bet is there will be some protection to the underlying layers.

Does putting on a clear top coat with UV protection, so it won't yellow, protect the layer underneath it from UV, too, or will they still yellow?

They'll still yellow, just at a slower rate. No clear stops all UV rays, that's why there's exterior and interior grade pigments. Some rays always get through. Acrylics and automotive urethanes(not household urethanes) offer the best UV pretection. Both have a natural resistance, even without additives.
