I would appreciate the opinions of TU members regarding palmering jigs with zonker straight rabbit strips, I heard it will give your jig a much fuller profile verses a crosscut rabbit strip .Are there any drawbacks on palmering with zonkers vs. crosscuts.Im not sure wich style of hair to invest in or will I need both types?

If you want the fullest wrapped bodies you need crosscut zonker strips.

If you use straight cut zonker strips,The hair will stick out at a 90 degree angel when wrapped. The cross cuts lay back over themselves at about a 45 degree angel. The cross cuts look better when your done, but the straight cuts give you a larger profile..Nathan

Hi everybody,
I'm a bit late to the party but I was watching the video below about rabbit strips and he shows crosscut and zonkers on the hook. IIRC the crosscut are shorter than the zonkers. Also there is a new type called bunnybou which has a higher density of rabbit fibers which looks quite nice and fluffy for palmering (not crosscut). http://vodpod.com/wa...=caddisfly&mp=1 Edited by syn, 21 March 2010 - 09:34 PM. |
