I dont want to compete Hazmail tutorial .. for this lip, I use PVC pipe as material... draw a lip pattern on outside surface of PVC cut PVC with saw shape n make it smooth with nail cutter and sand paper attach to the lure done...it's very easy..u can make it in 5-10 minutes ernest Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Vodkaman Posted October 2, 2009 Report Share Posted October 2, 2009 I have a couple of Sinyo's lures and the pipe works fine. It has just the right curvature and looks right. Because the pipe is opaque, it has to be painted. I don't know how it would cope with a rocky enviroment, but that is generally not the problem over here. PVC will not snap, but would probably take on a few dents, which can be easily cleaned off if they bothered you. Second, a lure question. How in the world to you cut a slot for a curved lip? I know it sounds simple, but I can't figure it out. My solution would be to cut a slot wide enough to fit the curved lip into, and then fill the voids with epoxy. But I'm hoping you have an elegant solution, like a piece of bandsaw or hacksaw blade clamped in a handle or holder of some kind so that it has the proper curve. I haven't gotten it right yet. mainbutter Posted October 3, 2009 Report Share Posted October 3, 2009 Just brainstorming here, I think the easiest way for attacahing a curved lip (without cutting a big slot and filling the voids with epoxy) isn't to cut a curve in the lure, but make the back end of the lip straight. How you go about that, well I suppose that is tricky with pvc pipe but as sinyo said, you can sand away some of the back portion to make it so you don't need AS BIG a void that needs filling. hazmail Posted October 3, 2009 Report Share Posted October 3, 2009 If you heat PVC pipe with a heat gun you can clamp it in a vice or something and it will cool flat and rigid, just heat one end and you can still have the curved lip!! - I'm always flattening PVC out to make 'no rust' brackets for your boat etc etc, it's very strong and workable. If you want to make a large flat sheet just split the pipe, heat it up and roughly flatten it , place it between 2 pieces of ply, heat again and weight it for a minute and you can have a 1' square perfectly flat sheet to play with.pete Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

What I actually did is cut a regular narrow lip slot under desired angle as usual and utilized my "Dremel" with a small 2 mm router bit to extend the lipslot's upper(forward) portions to accommodate the cupping of the lip .
