Lurehead03
Has anyone tried DN White lure paint for base coating CB's before painting,Just looking for something to speed the process Thought maybe you could dip in white after sealing and installing belly weight and rear hook hanger and how will it react with DN top coat
BobP
I haven't used it. But if the lure is already sealed, why would you need anything more than a white color basecoat? Why not just use white acrylic paint? Dry it with a hair dryer and it's faster. Five years into reading TU posts about sealing, waterproofing, basecoating, and priming, I still get confused by some of the questions and I think many new builders are more confused than I. The bottom line is you want to shoot paint onto a smooth non-porous surface. That means a "grain sealer" or a waterproofing sealer should be used to seal the wood before you paint colors. And before you shoot colors, you want a white background so the colors will be true and the wood grain and hardware will not show through your paint. That's the color basecoat. I don't see a need for a solvent based color basecoat over an already sealed bait.
bassinbooser
I use Krylon Fusion for a base paint. This helps me because when and if I goof up with painting I wipe off the paint but the Krylon Fusion base paint remains and you dont have to paint it again.
