Finding Tuf Board

Recommended Posts

Go to a "real' lumber yard, home depot has a lot, but they aren't very specific on what it is. and most of the help, at least at my store doesn't know what really is what. I have had them tell me things are discontinued, then walk 2 isles over and find a brand new pallet ready to be stocked.

What is PVC?

cellular vinyl pvc. google it to get more info. it's all i use for baits. easy to carve, sand. no grain to deal with, waterproof so it won'f absorb water. consistant mass and very bouyant. go to a building supply place ( i get mine at Lowe's ) and ask about pvc exterior millwork.

Can you turn that stuff on a lathe?

I have been trying to locate PVC board for making swimbaits. My local Home Depot seems to think they have discontinued it. Any ideas?

My local Home Depot does not have it but, my local Lowe's store does have it. That's where I buy mine. You have to go to the lumber section where they sell exterior trim. It comes in 4" & 6" widths X 8' long. Just be sure to buy the kind with 2 smooth sides. Some of it has 1 smooth side and one side like rough cedar. My Lowe's has both. You just need to look. Many of the store employee's just don't know.
