Lip Question- When To Clearcoat

I have been making lures for several years now, mostly jerkbaits and surface lures with no lips. I have decided to build some crankbaits with lexan diving lips. My question is...when do I epoxy in the lip? before/after painting? before/after first application of clearcoat? after final clearcoat? Any guidance on this is greatly appreciated.

I like to do it after painting but before clearcoating. It's mostly a personal choice of what you think looks best. I don't like to tape up lips, so doing it after painting is my preference.

I install lips before painting. If the lip slot needs a little adjustment to get the lip straight then the paint will not suffer.

I attach my lips when I clear coat. I do it all in one step so everything flows and bonds together.
