Don't feel bad. I've been tying flies for over 45 years, and I still make incredibly stupid mistakes just about every time I sit down at the bench. If my wife knew the half of it, she'd have put me in a home a long time ago.

LOL!! the last two lures i made, i used glitter and had it EVERYWHERE, clothes, shoes, pants, face, hands....Wife thought I was glamming up for a nite on the town. :)

When I was doing hardbaits I used to put super fine glitter in the clearcoat before I shot it. No muss, no fuss.

That's what I normally do. Mixing it in with the brushed on top coat allows me to push the glitter around with a brush until it's like I want it. I was going for a different effect this time though. I wanted a solid coating of glitter and was dusting it on over the still wet top coat.
