Does anyone know How to stop the dripping of lead in between pours?
Between each pour the lead drips and splatters. I have cleaned out the spout and have tried to make sure it is opening and closing properly.

Or if that doesnt work try fluxxing your lead . I use wax be careful and use with caution and in small amounts, its flamable,

I don't know which one you have .When mine started that I cleaned (the whole pot) it solved the problem. If yours is like mine has the handle? Where gloves and eye protection I got a stiff wire with a pair of needle nose pliers while pot is up to temp. start the wire in the orpheus and when you open the gate I pushed the wire in the opening pushing up and back out a couple of times, (keep in mind hot lead will be pouring out have something for it to run into!) and that solved the dripping trash will settle there (make sure your using clean lead} tire weights will give you fits. make sure the dowel that shuts the orphus is centered towards the opening

I will try fishy's method on wed after I can get some wire brushes.

Up the temp! Mine drips until the pot gets real hot then it stops. Usually with half a 10lb pot I leave it on 7 or 8.

Do you have any fans blowing on it? and are you waiting until its up to temp before you start to pour? With it on 10 it should get hot enough to break up the crud in there and let the plunger sit snug.

keep a screwdriver handy and turn the top of the pin that controls the flow and see if that helps....I cleaned a twenty pound pot over the weekend using a wire brush on a drill then sprayed the entire inside with a mold release and that really helped. What happened for me was crud in the pour spout/hole that wasn't allowing the pin to seat entirely. different temps, alloys and crud usually the problem, a full pot will drip more than a half full pot because of the head/weight above the hole all things equal too. The pin groove for the adjustment screw alignment is important to check as well, a slightly bent pin can cause headaches. I'm not complaining as the pot I'm using is over ten years old and get used alot.
