I have a idea for a bait and need a little information on just how to proceed. I can draw the bait to scale and pretty much know what I want it to look like but don't know how to proceed from there. The bait is similiar to the Little George style of lead bait. I guess what I'm asking is about people who make custom molds for lead. I might even be interested in some type of production mold to make ten or so at the time.

Take your idea to a machine shop. Most of them can make anything you want for a price. The last idea I had was too expensive. The shop wanted $500 for a mold.

Don't know if it still applies but DO-IT, IDEAL and other mold companies used to solicit ideas for molds, might work something out with them if there's not a patent infringment issue. A friend licensed a disc jig many years ago with a company that made molds for Herters, didn't make a lot of money but got a few free molds for his own use.

We have the capability to make silicone production molds inhouse. We cast and paint roughly 2million fishing lures each year. Most of which are molds we have made for other companies. The mold cost varies depending on size but I would be willing to take a look and let you know what the mold would cost and price on casting and painting the lure.
