I usually don't name my hardbaits(maybe very few) , as I most likely only build one or at least very few of one particular model, ........but I've given names to some of my home-designed spoon models(constantly replacing lost ones) ,...... here are the latest "Creature Spoon"(left) and the "DinnerBell"(right) .

I havn't specifcally named hard baits because they're usually a knock-off of an existing lure, but I do name the color patterns. A few examples are;

Trans Yellow/Gold with Trans Orange back is "Monkeypuke"

Dark Blue with white spots is "Monica"

White with black spots and red head is "Dalmation/Bloody Nose"

Green with Blue Back is "Dolphin"

Fluorescent Yellow with Fluor Orange back and stripes (flames) is "57 Chevy"

Most of these are actually patterns commonly found on trolling spoons but I apply them equally to stickbaits.....

I named my wake bait the Uncle Manny Minnow. My Uncle was a big time angler back in the day and my earliest fishing memories where while we camped with my Aunt & Uncle Manny. Here had lots of old school fishing stories of days gone by. Then my newest deep diving flat sided crank bait is called the Henrieta, after my grandmother. Those are the names so far, I have some new baits coming out in a few months and they too have family members names that left a big impression on me when I was younger. Good topic for sure. Thanks

Hey Ben , I'm willing to share those rights with you? but I need some DN clear coat first , lol

Wish I could help on the DN Mike. Hopefully Dick will have his new mix up and running soon. Won't be long and I'm going to be needing some. And no problem sharing the name for the baits. I'm pretty sure we're not the only ones using that name. lol

I just glued the eyes into a batch of baits. I was thinking to myself, "the working time seems to be quite long on this batch" as I was gluing up a record fifth bait. Then I realized that I had forgotten to add the drops of hardener. Came up with some real good names for that batch of lures.

I find naming my baits and colors very fun. There are a few famous Norwegian that really suck in english, and when the dont know the word, they just anglify (hehe is that a word?) the norwegian word. Ive adopted that to some of my names, I say the Norwegian name in norwenglish, ie; Kruckle, In norwegian the name is Krøkle and is actually pronounced pretty much as the english writing.

Other names for baits (more just funny/cool words):

Strap on Sally.

StiffBeaver (this one actually has a meaning, and are named after 2 buddies in Wisconsin. One nicknamed Beaver, and the other is called Steve, the way you pronounce the name Steve is the same way you say the norwegian word for stiff (stiv))

PrancingTit (the bait is darting around, just like a prancing tit :) and it makes for a cool t-shirt)

PrismBreak (when I use prism tape)

CarpVader

and on and on :)

All of my baits are called "Wankers" which has gotten me some strange emails over the years..... mostly from the UK...... However, I do have a "Chupacabra" I came up with on a trip to Falcon.... and Matt, I do have a crackle finish to go along with your Moonshine, called "White Lightening" ..... for medicinal purposes only.
