First Laminates Issue

Recommended Posts

Here are some pics of my first laminates that came out. These were shot with recooked plastic using Bear's blending block and turned out pretty good. Thanks for everyone with all of the help and info on here to get these to come out.

One thing though is that on the first worm on each group, the first one came out hollow in the middle. I have a picture below to show what I am talking about. What would cause this? I thought it was interesting the first time I pulled them out of the mold but since it happened every time, I am obviously doing something wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

The hole in the middle of the top bait is from shrinking when cooling. You need to keep the fill hole full of hot plastic as it cools so that it will "suck" in plastic instead of air.

That hole is a good place to stick a rattle when you wacky rig!

You know, I think you guys who pour laminates all the time are amazing.

And the thinking behind the multiple cavity blending block is true genius.

Just think about it for a minute. Two streams of hot plastic stay separate all the way down to the last cavity!!??

Hats off to you, and to Bear and the others who actually invented this technology. :worship::worship::worship:

That would be Kevin at Basstackle that introduced this idea to us.

On the hole, Romeo is dead on. The plastic cools and shrinks down the injection sprue hole. The top bait is what is gets to and then cools. A small bit of plastic will cure that but I do like the idea of the rattle. Downside is, the bait will float......

Did that take care of your problem?

I haven't had a chance to go out and try. I ran out of plastic and it just showed up today. I will give it a shot again tomorrow. I am sure that is all that it was. Thanks for the help Romeo.

When you get a chance Jim ask Kevin who actually though of the idea of the Blending Block. You might get a kick out of the answer. Frank
