I found a free source of excellent containers in which to mix tiny batches of epoxy… no fuss no muss. They are the little containers my wife’s individual disposable contacts are shipped in. They are nicely dished, so after mixing I don’t have to keep chasing the mixed epoxy around with a match stick like I do when mixed on a piece of paper. It stays puddled up nicely. The contact containers are extremely light so you’ll need to push them into a ping-pong sized ball of Skulpy clay or children’s molding clay to hold it firmly in place on the work surface (see bottom/left in pic). Works great!

I like it. No corners for unmixed epoxy to hide. I am always on the hunt for small mixing pots. I like the clay stabilizer too.
Your idea has given me two new ideas. I have just set up a test for them. Dave #3Posted 02 April 2011 - 08:15 AM
I just use pill cups. You can get them at the drug store by the hundred for very little.

The test I did last night, was to take a flattened piece of modelling clay, cover it with cling film, squeeze the air out and form it into a dish. It worked very well and is how I will be mixing my epoxy in future. The plastic film is peeled off and cleanly disposed of.

I use Styrofoam egg containers to mix epoxy in. Its nice because they are trash anyways, have no corners, and they can hold a bunch or a little. I just cut the cups apart from one another and keep them at the bench.

I use the caps of plastic bottles - ex: coke, mouthwarsh, shampoo, etc... You can save them up and use diffrent sizes too.

i go to christian supply stores and buy the small communion cups for mixing paint as well as epoxy in - clear cups to see the paint through as well as small amounts that work great in my eclipse CR's cup - cheap too $5/100 or $20/1000

Underside of "coke" can. Always have one around can add any solvent to thin you want no issues.
