I have a new rod that has a very large cork handle and I was thinking about sanding it down a bit.

Was wondering if this is possible and what advice I could get in attempting this.

Thanks.

Get a old rod blank that will fit in the butt of the new rod.Put your elec drill with speed trigger lock in a vise set speed med.slow . Cup your left hand under the front fore grip for support now use a sanding sponge block just take your time may need to finish sand with 100 grit..Just did one today.
