Yes, i know another fluid bed question. LOL
Ok i have been having trouble fluidizing the HF powder paints, mostly use the flat black, any suggestions?

I have a homemade FB with a duel line pump (plenty of pressure), i have used coffee filters, brown bag any some other media with no success.
It's a 2" diameter cup 3" long and i put about 2-3 Oz of powder in it.

I have tried putting the cup in very lightly and then gradually seating deeper and still no help.

I get the big volcano's and the powder does not bubble well. I have ordered some cups with the porous Poly sheet in them. I will also try to make a bigger 3" fluid bed, maybe i have too much air flow, but i do have a brass flow valve to control the air flow.

Or is everyone having trouble with the HF powders?
I have tried the protec ones and its a little better but not much.

Thanks for the advice.:)

Maybe you should buy the valve. I have a $9 Wally air pump and I use a lot of HF paint. I don't get much in the volcano line but when I turn on the air I stir the paint with a popsicle stick and it floats and does just fine.

I do have a valve on already, its one of those brass ones. It seems to control the air flow pretty well. I will try to stir it up after i start it, see if that helps.

As you may have already found out, not all powder paints act the same way in the air bed. Try mixing in small amounts (about 10% at first) of clear powder paint into the black and slowly continue adding in small amounts until you get the desired effect. Later---GeorgiaBlade

I had the same problem with mine. What i noticed was the TEE connector for the two air lines had a small inside diameter. I changed it with one with a larger inside diameter and now works awesome.
