I fished with Brandon Saturday in Desert Bass. I sure wish I had done a better job of putting him on fish. If I'ld know it was going to be his last trip on the river ... I don't know. I tried. We even went back out and fished for a couple hours after the tournament was over.

He asked me to let him know if I was going to go fish Mittry during the week as practice for this weekends Pro Am. I got my service work done this morning and gave him a call. I left a message, but I left my phone in the truck. When I picked it up later I saw two missed calls from his number. So I called back.

The person who answered said he was his mom's boyfriend, and that Brandon passed away two nights ago.

He was only 28 years old.

I'm going fishing. If you believe in that sort of thing I expect Brandon will be along for a ride in the back seat silently giving me heck for not putting him on better fish. I'm NOT inviting anybody else to go. The back seat is for Brandon this afternoon.

Its always a joke until it happens. Don't know how many times I have told one or another of my friends, "Take care of yourself. I don't make friends easily, and I can't afford to lose one." Brandon was an easy guy to like.

Maybe he will put you onto the fish this time . We are spirit beings having a human experience . When we are in our true state we can do things not possible now. Of course you got to get permission from the Big Guy first . But God willing your ole buddy gets to guide this trip . So if you get a strike from something and you get a tingly quiver down your arms and spine you will Know Brandon passed you a blessing .

There are good friends and good FISHING friends. I don't have enough of either group. It's hard on me to lose one of the former and doubly hard to lose one of the latter and for me it's triple hard to lose somebody in BOTH groups.

Since I don't make a lot of new friends easily, whenever I lose one, I treasure their memory. Good luck and best regards
John
