Anyone made any of these?

The best pictures I can find show two light SS wires pointing up in front of the hook. Anyone made any of these or weedless hooks and I can figure it all out from there.

I would like to make my own as weedless single hooks are very expensive compared to just hooks.

A Snagless sally, even though the wires are too far forward.

I went with this for weedless. I am thinking about trying one with hackle or bucktail at the bottom of the wire below the body to fluff it, or fill it. Thoughts

Archeryrob, I like this design and it looks like the Terminator in-line weedless spinner or perhaps the mepps combo killer, both of them sport a grub texas rigged to make the spinner weedless. I do have some suggestions to make the lure function better, because the way it is now is ok but you'll find getting good hook sets may be a problem. The problem is the wire is too long, remember, you have a single worm hook on back connected with a split ring so it is going to move free and on a long wire the freedom of movement is going to keep you from driving the hook through plastic and the fishes mouth. It is and easy fix, look at the snagless sally, all you need to do is take off the lure body and shorten the wire up and then add 2 beads behind the bottom of the spinner clevis. What you'll be left with is the line tie and 2 beads theclevis with spinner attached then 2 more beads and a wire loop with split ring and hook with grub, that would be great. You can use colored beads to give it a little more color and you can even get something like spike it or lake hawk lure and blade dip and simply dye the wire to a different color, there is a ton of things you can do which also include tying bucktail to the end. It is up to you and the best thing about tacklmaking, you decide...Good luck on the design, it looks like it will be a killer!

Anyone even own a snagless sally? I can't get any good pictures of the bottom and the wires and weight is set into it.

You are probably going to have to find one and buy it yourself. The problem is that design is obsolete in the bass world which the Sally was made for, safety pin type spinnerbaits create more vibration and have a bulkier profile on top of that. In-line spinners are still great fishcatchers but most use a design like the Terminator in-line or Mepps combo killer which is close to the design you have in the second picture. Now if I were you and had my heart set on making something close to the Sally, I would get a small brass lure body that you can find at any of the supply stores and use that for the bottom part, then take Terminator spinnerbait skirts and use those to slip on the brass lure body. You can get the Terminator skirts from Lure Parts online, they are on closeout there. For the wire wedguards, imply get some suflon wire leader material, probably the 90# nylon coated braided material would work best. Thats how I would approach it and it won't be hard as once you begin to look at all the different brass lure body designs, I'm sure you'll find something that will give you an idea of how to do it, good luck.

Wire may be a little too thick for a weedguard. You need to decide what you want, I don't think anyone has a full set of step by step directions on how to build a snagless Sally so you are going to have to wing it.

I have bent the wire for making the weed gurad that the sally uses. Will try to get a pic of how I do it. I use it on a swim jig I have made for many years .... To use this type weed guard you need to use a large eye hook to make it easier .. I have been doing it the hard way with a small eye and doing a little extra to get my line thru the small opening that is left .. 14# mono is about max. SS are used here on the Gulf Coast in big numbers it will go a lot of places that a "safety Pin" type will not run .. The Avitor of mine is with a 9# + on a Sally several years ago (Yellow is the #1 Color .. Gold Balde #4 1/2)

Open Eye of Hook so that you can slip the "Looped" section onto hook .. with both of wires inside the"Eye" bend the eye of the hook closed and adjust to proper postion (With a little practice it gets easier)
A Rig is with a small eye hook (makes it more weedless) B Rig is with a big eye hook.
A & B are both rigs for plastic.
The "C" Weighted Hook .. The "Keel" body makes for a better "Sally" type Spinner bait.
This should get you started. Will post more information on the "Sally"

Here are 3 different configurations of the Old Sallies
A - Is the 4 1/2 Gold . regular Sproat Hook which is keel weighted (the entire bait is gold plated) Note the brass body on the spinner shaft ... (the original was "beaded" as in "C") At one time the "Wicked Widow" was the name given to this configuration.
B - -Is a special with Indiana style blade .. in this configuration it runs shallow. (note old burke plastic impregnated with a fabric mesh to make it tougher is used for a trailer on this one) For years you used only Uncle Josh Frog for trailer which by most, was doctored up by trimming some of the belly fat.
C - Is a smaller size in Nickle ... this was the original design ... beaded shaft.
Note on the Skirts. The Plastic skirts work the best .. They are installed in the "Streamer" design (if you reverse them the extra flare will cause the bait to spin) Only a couple of places have the plastic skirts and that is Hildebrandt & I think ... H&H.
This bait has a very interesting history To long for here .. Xcept that Lew Childre (not singing Lew his son) got them to make it .. In the Mobile Delta the "Yellow Sally" (weighted body Fly ) with spinner & Uncle Josh Frog was a top bass bait.

Mustad has an older hook it's a 3366w that has the weedguard on it.
