Hey everyone, i was wondering what material everyone used to achieve the honeycomb scale look. thanks for any help, jim

just netting from the fabric store or from bags oranges come in is what i use

The netting from the fabric store, Hobby or Michaels is called TULE, used to make wedding vails

Found a nice pattern on a kids butterfly net in hobby town usa. Some say minnow nets but i have never used them

Haven't tried it myself, but have heard mosquito netting makes a nice pattern as well.

Exactly. I was just like you when first trying to paint scales. Once you train your mind to think "Will this make a good scale pattern" you'll start seeing things in places you never even imagined.
