speechless33759
I was wondering does your urethane auto clear "melt" or make your under paints start to run? I'm using a spray can primer that lists as an enamel based product, then shooting some rattle can paints on it, then trying to clear coat it with auto clear. But it seems I have some runs or some of the paint begins to blend together. Do I need to switch to purely urethane based primer and paints? BobP
It's almost impossible to predict whether dissimilar coatings will be compatible, except I hear that polyurethanes are generally not compatible with enamels. The best you can do with rattle can paints is to buy them from the same "family" which are manufactured for compatibility. You might check some auto painting sites for specific info on what kinds of coatings can be layered.
BREAKTHEMOLD
The rattle can paint is most likely laquer based. The thinner's used to reduce the modern clear coat will melt into the laquer finish.
