the two piece action gives more of an s action, the tighter the joint usually makes the bait S more.  If you look at a wide swimbait like a slammer, the bill resistance and the tail really kicks because the joints are really far apart, the two piece of an S waver is really tight and has a lot more of an s action.  Hope this helps a little bit.
