Alternate Means Of Securing Tail Other Than Toothpick

9 posts in this topic

I'm using a plastisol tail on a swimbait and have been using toothpicks. The only drawback is when it get's wet it expands and is terribly hard to get out. Do you guys have much luck with other things? I was thinking about a screw but didn't know how much that would affect my ballast.

Yeah I've experimented with a hitchhiker too, didn't seem to secure it as well as a notch with toothpicks. The tail actually ripped easier seems like. Or maybe I need to experiment with different tail material.

You could try through-wiring the tail section leaving a corkscrew shape in the wire at the tail end then you can simply screw on the rubber tail. Hope that helps.
