CNC Molds N Stuff
I have been told lead will react with some plastic formulas so you should coat a weight like this before using in a bait. I go thru the baits so fast when the swimbait bite is on that its not an issue for me. I would expect powder coat would be best with epoxy coating a close second. I do not know if metal etching primer and Duplicolor will react with plastisol baits or not, but it might be a good thing to test and find out.
Ed_White
Bob, I was having a problem with the plastic not wanting to adhere to the lead inserts in my sand eels, and the guys from Spikeit told me to paint the lead with their Colure soft plastic paints, and it works really well. Before, if you had to unhook a fish you could feel the insert moving inside the bait, after painting the lead it is a challenge to remove the plastic from the insert...much more sturdy.
