Dn And Glitter.

Recommended Posts

How are you guys applying glitter to your cranks when using DN as a topcoat?

These are some of the suggestions I've learned from the forums:

1. Mix the glitter to the DN when mixing prior to coating the lure.

2. Apply the DN, then sprinkle the glitter while the lure is drying.

If you scroll down, I think you will see a very interesting post from RayBurnGuy in which he uses an airbrush to spray the glitter.

Yeah i read that from Rayburn guy. Havnt got one of the mini blasters yet. Reason i was asking is i want to do a lure that has heavy glitter down the back spine but very light on the sides and belly. Was just curious on how to get that look.

You might try cutting a slit in a thin piece of clear plastic (clear plastic so you can see how to locate the slit in relation to the bait) and then sprinkling the glitter through the slit onto the bait after it's been coated with the epoxy. Haven't personally tried this, but it should work.

I mix glitter with createx gloss coat and brush onto the areas I want it. Heat set then use DN as usual.

When you say "brush", do you mean airbrush or bristle/foam brush. If you are using an airbrush, what type or tip size are you using? Thanks for your help. I'm thinking of giving this a try.

Paint brush. I pick up an assortment at hobby stores when they are on sale. You can use different sizes depending on the area you want to cover.
