First Round For Canada

Recommended Posts

First time tying -  :?

First time for Canada -  8O

Am I on the right track?

Targeting small mouth, walleye, pike and with luck musky.

Thanks

If that's the first time you have tied any thing you have done a really good job

We don't have them species of fish over here but from what I've read up on them I can't see any reason why you wouldn't catch Them on them patterns

Good luck

Cheers

Nice job and a very interesting mix of colours and materials. Most look fairly heavy so I would think you will need to throw them with an 8 to 10 weight rod with a weight forward line. Have any ideas yet about how they look wet?  I have found that during construction of multi material flys like these .It pays for durability to use a lot of head cement between stages and use  heavier threads like kevlar or big game thread. That deer hair is nice to work with once you get the thread  pressure  right. Point or interest on these flies. The deer hair spins and flares  a lot better with a bare shank and in smaller bunches. Using a safety half blade razor blade to flatten the underbody helps to deliver the fly flat and increase the hook up as you actually clean out the space between hook point and shank. Good luck fishing your creations. Cheers
