Painting Soft Plastic/rubber

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'm from the hard bait section but have a question for you softbait experts. I have someone who wants me to paint some hard swimbaits for him. The baits he makes have soft plastic or rubber tails. My question is, is there a way to paint the soft plastic or rubber? I would assume that it has to be dyed, that any paint would come off??? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks a ton

You can use the spike it dip and dye but not many colors to choose from they also have 2 different lines of soft plastic lure paints both water based and solvent based. Either one should be sealed either bye dipping in clear plastisol designed for that purpose or they make a clear coat in the paint line but I have no experience with it so I don't know how it holds up. I'm told by a friend in the business that the solvent based is better in his opinion.
