StuntGruntLures
Does anyone make some kind of insert for swimbaits, so the bait will stay suspended in water column, or close to bottom structure, such as a cork insert???
ReflexionSwimbaits
Thats an interesting thought... We make all of our swimbait inserts and weight them so they will perform well in the 5-10' depth range. With our lures (as with most swimbait inserts) they have to be heavy enough to keel weight the bait so it doesn't roll over on the retrieve. Thank being said, if you made a bait what was wider than it was tall and had a free weight inserted (1/16 - 1/8 oz) that was heavy enough to maintain your bait's keel but light enough to be offset by the cork. Just my thoughts!
CNC Molds N Stuff
Sounds like the Predator Swimbaits main 5" line through. Its very wide. It comes with a 3/8 lead insert weight, but because of its wide girth its very easy to fish it near the surface by holding your rod tip high and keeping the line angle steep. Hits that way can be violent too. I've never thrown their big 9 incher, but I expect it would be the same since it has the same uber wide profile. Dink Master
Bob - speaking of Predator Swimbaits Yuma boy Billy Skinner now of Havasu City, had a wire-to-wire win in the FLW Lake Havasu tournament this week (almost 60 pounds)
CNC Molds N Stuff
Billy is very good, and he spends the time on the water to know where the fish are. Also, a pretty nice guy. I've got an open invitation to fish with him on Havasu sometime when he isn't busy, but alas... I have not had the time to go. Maybe soon. He also fished the Pro Am club I used to run when he lived in Yuma. Some of the other "Pros" grumbled, but I thought it was awesome that he wasn't afraid to take other people out on the water and catch fish. Between that, running Predator, and now his own line of rods I don't know how he has time to sleep. Dink Master
StuntGruntLures - sorry about the hijack on this thread. Yes Billy is a great guy to fish with, I have been lucky enough to draw him in 2 WON Bass Pro-Am's on Havasu. He also has let me pre fish with on Lake Mead.
