Several years ago I tired some flies, used them and put them back in the tackle box, was looking thru my stuff last night I noticed that they had started rotting, is there anyway to preserve flies? What is the life span of most flies? I have several books on fly fishing and tieing, but none cover this subject..
Thanks
ROBERT

The best way to save flies and keep the moths out of them is in plastic boxes. It even helps to have a bit of moth balls in a box that stores the plastic boxes.
I have some flies from years and years ago, royal coachman and other pattern's that look like they were just tied. If they are put away dry, they will last for years. Fly tiers best friend. Moth balls.
