Anybody Know How This Holograph Application Is Done?

Recommended Posts

I just ordered a handful of these holographic baits. I can not figure out what the holographic material is, and how it is applied to the bait......Would love to know how this is done so I can possibly apply the holographic material to other baits.

I can not feel an edge where the holographic starts...... :?

I don't think it is.....Because the bills still have tape wrapped around and some of the holograph material is on the tape also. I think the bait is painted with what ever the white is (paint or adhesive) and then the holograph is over top of the white.......

adambuss1,

It looks that way to me, too.  I have no clue how it's done, but it is an overlay, not internal.

I bought some, and I'm wondering if a finger-applied rub coat of a transparent paint, thinned, would color the white lines in the scale pattern, but allow me to remove the color, or most of it, from the holo itself.

Something for me to try, anyway.

I'd guess stamping foil too.  It's super thin so you wouldn't feel the edge.  Foil is on a plastic film with very thin layer of hot-melt adhesive on the back.  You press the foil against your part, heat the front (of the carrier film) and the ahesive sticks to the part and foil then peels off the film and stays on your part.

I've tried tape and decals. It's much thicker than the foil in the video, leaves an edge and doesn't conform well to round surfaces or fine details. If you do get it to adhear to a round surface, Solvent based paint or top coat can cause it to peel up around the edges.
