.051" Wire Twister For Buctails

Recommended Posts

I made this simple little tool to make the final neat twist for the .051" wire and is slim enough to do the final loop

I start my loop with the Knipex round nose pliers

Than I insert the wire in the Jig and use lineman's electrician plier to twist the wire

How to make the Jig

need  a piece of 1/4 stock by 1.0 or 1.5 inches and around 4 inches long by 1/4 inches thick

Drill press

10-32 tap and matching drill

Cut the slot first ( I use a hacksaw and finish up with Dremel tool)

Last drill and tap the screw hole

use a s/s 10-32 bolt about 1 inch long cut the head off and notch the very end of the bolt

Note  the notch traps the wire

Hey Gino, excellent tool and tutorial. Would you like a cad file of this? Pm me and I can send you one, as it might be easier to post your great idea.

Gino

Gino,

I would give you a build drawing so you can have all the dimensions that you could disperse to anyone that requested it. I would give you a PDF of it. I see you are in Glen Ellyn Illinois, I live in Libertyville, IL. Do you have a phone number I can call you?

Ted
