White

I'm wondering if maybe you're overheating?  Because you should be able to get more than one shot with ANY brand of plastic.  If not, then yeah.......add a little heat stabilizer to your mix and you should be good.  One thing to keep in mind is that stuff goes a long way.  Usually about an ounce per gallon of plastic is enough.

Most places that sell plastisol will also offer heat stabilizer.  Just give 'em a call and ask.

Good luck!

I add a couple of drops of heat stabilizer to a cup of plastic, and then heat it up to 350 to get it to convert.

Then I add my white pigment, and pour at 330+-.  I try never to heat it past that, and it seems to stay white longer.

Sorry, Mark.  You beat me to it!  LOL

If I read that right, he only adds violet hilite, and gets that great color.  No white pigment at all???

That's it! Only the hilite....It's amazing. The new Essentials plastic is really heat tolerant so you can do multiple reheats to 360 without any yellowing. I've been happy with MF plastic also.

Are hilite powders the same as perl powders that I can get at my local art supply shop?

If it is powder it is probably ok. Paste might be a problem. Can some one explain how the high lite would replace white? Its more of a bone or off white. All of my customers would not accept that for white. If you have some older plastic it sometimes yellows by itself not from overheating. Make sure when you get a new container of plastic you mix it well everytime you use it so the last of it does not have a lot of hardener which yellows faster than softer stuff. This goes for anyone's plastic.

Agree 100%-Highlight is not a base color-various highlights are added to white for an effect adding an iridescent color or glimmer to white.
