rockslide
I need to make a copy of a silicon mold I have that is getting old! I was looking at pouring fiberglass resin in the mold to make a master. My question is will the fiberglass resin stick to the silicone
CNC Molds N Stuff
Epoxy resin sticks to a lot. Its also likely to over cook and burn if the master is very thick. You run into similar potential for scorching with polyester resin, but it doesn't stick to things "quite" as well. I would still recommended a release agent. I believe I have some stuff for polyester that I got with a batch of resin just for making sure you can get the plastic sheeting off that you throw on to help it cure when you do a patch job. Heck, with a good release agent you might be able to make a silicone master from your silicone molds. Definitely don't try that without a release agent. Silicone does stick to silicone.
