Painting Wood Floats

Recommended Posts

So i have some really nice wooden floats i made on the lathe for my crawfish traps but i dont know what to paint them with. I could seal them but i ran out of a sealer to cover it all and i really dont want to mess with that or teak oil. Can i paint it with acrylic paint or something waterproof? Thanks!

If your not wanting to use a top coat then the only thing I can think of is to use lacquer paint. Haven't used it personally, but a lot of the old lures were painted with lacquer paints and no top coat. Depending on how much time I'd put into building them and how nice they were I would probably go for a top coat to make them truly waterproof.
