New Guy Introduction

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone and happy new year! My name is Zach, 25 years old from Jamestown, Va. I Just wanted to introduce myself to the TU community. I have been ate up with making my own wooden crankbaits lately for personal use (bass fishing). Though I am still very much in the experimental phase, I look forward to learning more and sharing with other people who like tackle making as much as I have completedom to like it.

Thank you for the welcomes gentlemen. I definetly am having fun making crankbaits since I made my first one about 2 months ago. It's become sort of an addiction, making and tweaking baits every spare moment. There is Absolutely something special about handmade wooden Baits, obviously others have discovered this way before me!!

Ha!... Greatness Bob!

If you got the money honey, we got your disease!

Welcome Zach... As mentioned, much to learn here....... But atop that, its a place full of guys and gals who share the same passion

Youll probably find yourself babbling to friends and family about lure making, they wont understand... You'll show them pictures and proudly hoist your creations in their face, they wont understand.... Then youll come here..... We understand!

That is tough!.... I dislocated one recently, i never told the story because im ashamed of how it happened.... But the brain is an amazing thing, you'll be a bit clumsy at first, but after about a week your motor skills will adapt and youll wonder why you needed that finger in the first place

JR is right, don't talk to friends about lure building. Would you like it if they sat at the bar and talked about knitting all night.

I painted my girlfriend a princess pink crankbait for her key ring so for the moment she is happy. I tell her all about it (she just kind of nods) and she tells me all about clothes, work drama, etc lol.

Zach - notice I did not say family. Girlfriends count the same as brothers and sisters, they have the patience and the interest in what interests you.

Example - I travel a lot, all over the world. I have a LOT of stories to tell. The first time I returned home, a friend in the bar asked me what I had been up to the last year. About three minutes in to my narration his eyes glazed over, he turned away and started talking football to the next guy. That is when I learned my lesson. My family sit on the edge of their seats and hang on every word.

Gf's/wives/sig others also make for an honest judge... Especially if you live with them, cause the comfort level is beyond worry of offending

I show my wife my stuff, and she'll be brutally honest... Either it looks "rough as hell" or "not bad"

However, this DOES NOT go both ways... When she shows you a new dress, it ALWAYS looks stunning!!!

you guys are right on...excellent advice...vodkaman you are a man of brilliance, be assured your wisdom does not fall on deaf ears here. Jrammit you are correct it does not go both ways! I do laugh at how my girlfriend judges my lures in terms of their "pretty" factor though
