New To Injection Pouring

Recommended Posts

I've been hand pouring for myself with silicon molds for several years now. Now that there is a reasonably priced Senko mold available now I thought I would step up to injection molding. Thinking about the 6oz injector from Basstackle to start with along with a Senko mold from LPO. Aside from some extra o-rings is there anything else I should order as well? I have plastic, colorants and all that stuff already. Any advice to shorten my learning curve would be welcomed, plus I'm a cheap bastard so any way to save some $ LMK Thanks in advance!!!, Will

Thanks Dave! I did read a couple of the posts and that's what got me fired up about switching to injection. I saw where Mark got his injector from Basstackle and that seems to be the best price for an injector with a locking cap in the 6oz size. Bob's info about salt was very helpful. I just don't want to order the stuff and find out I also needed something else I hadn't thought about. Stay safe over there Dave and thanks for your input!

Most if not all manufacturers are using 5/8 as a standard, some jacob's molds might be out there that are not.

I've mentioned this before.  If you have a mold that is not 5/8 and you want it to be, and there is enough room to cut it, I'll mill (or drill if its better) the opening out to 5/8 for free.  Just pay shipping both ways.

A most generous offer Bob.

I'm always busy, but I can easily mill or drill out a mold in a minute or two while I am babysitting machines.  It takes me longer to mount it up than to cut it usually.  The first mold I ever bought was a Jacobs, and my first injector was a meat marinade syringe with the needle cut off.  I didn't even know that there were molds that had 5/8 sprues when I started making molds.  I had to machine out a bunch of my own at one point.
