Vice Question

Recommended Posts

I never used the one on mine, but I think it is for holding material while you while you do the wraps?

If I'm not mistaken the spring is what puts pressure on the jaws so they open when you loosen the locking nut. My Griffin vice has an o-ring in place of the spring in the same location.

The spring is a material holder, there are fly patterns that have material tied on for wing casings and when you tie the material in you can fold it back and the spring will hold it away from where you are tying until it is time to tie that piece of material in.

The o-ring on a griffin vise actually holds the jaw and provides a counter force against the jaws. If you go to the Griffin website you can look at the Blackfoot Mongoose vise and see where the material clip is, and it isn't on the actual jaw set, and the reason is you basically grab it and move it to where you need it.
