A-Mac Posted February 5, 2016 Report Share Posted February 5, 2016 I used to use a sharpie fine point, but be sure to shoot createx clear over it. Some clear coats will make these run. My favorite method is creating a decal of my signature. I snap a picture of my signature, upload it into microsoft word, crop the image some, and shrink it down to the size I need. After I make the size I need, copy and paste it about 400 times to fill up a sheet, then print it out on clear label paper. Note, I still shoot clear over the label, but it's tough to fit McAlexander on a 1.5" lure with a sharpie :-) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Bad Mullett Posted February 5, 2016 Report Share Posted February 5, 2016 I also use a calligraphy pen but use black or white (depending on the lure color) air brush paint which is kept in a separate small glass bottle. BobP Posted February 5, 2016 Report Share Posted February 5, 2016 Yeah, you can buy a fine point calligraphy pen at a hobby shop for just a few bucks. They are just a fountain pen point mounted in a plastic stick. I just dip the pen in black Createx. Since it's the same water based acrylic paint I use to paint lures, there's never an issue with it running or fading, which you can get with solvent based Sharpies, etc. There are myriad ways to sign lures. The water slide decals make a very nice signature that is exactly and endlessly repeatable. I've also seen guys use a custom rubber signature stamp. I'm just a hobby builder so slopping my initials on there seems good enough for the baits I give away to family and friends. If I built for sale, that would be different.
