Weedless Wacky Hook Wire

I'm looking for a fine wire to use for my weedless wacky hooks.

Anyone here have an idea what to use, and/or a source?

I used to use the Matzuo 3/0 with the wire guard, but they don't sell them anymore.

u want something like the  do-it WWG-12 or you can make ur own outts s.s. wire

Barlows has a hi-seas wire in different sizes.

The .018 would be alittle thicker than the do-it wwg-12 weedguard wires

You can tie on a single strand of monofilament onto the hook shank if that would work or you can double over the mono and tie on the tag ends. Just a thought.

I'm having trouble finding mono that is heavy enough.

I only need a leader length, not 100 yds.

I'm thinking 100lb test would work, but I may be thinking too heavy.

Any idea what test I should use? 

I have it up to 30lb, but it's too soft.

I have been using some light (17lb I think?) titanium leader wire for my flick shake heads lately.

Just as an avid wacky wormer, why not try to make some weedguards out of 30-40lb mono? Maybe a double or "v" shaped guard.

You can use piano wire (ss) from music store or 60-80 lb mono or fluoro depending on which direction you want to go. I've used both, currently 80lb fluoro, but depends on what kind of cover you're fishing......

How does that titanium leader work? The titanium wire in the Gamakatsu heads are just flat out the best.

Don't know how they'll work yet but just made these with a couple strands off a jig weedguard.

I make a hook with a weight similar to this. It works really well for wacky wormin'. You have a PM from me.

What are y'all wrapping the weedguards to the shank of the hook with? I mocked one up last night using 25lb mono as the weed guard and just wrapped it in fly tying thread. I know I'd have to put some epoxy on it or something else I was just wondering what y'all use to tie them up. Also do you think shrink wrap could be used to secure the weedguards? Thanks guys.

Fly tying thread is fine, I use 210 Denier from Danville and then some Sally Hansen's Hard As Nails clear over the thread. If I was going to use shrink tubing I'd tie it with thread first and then shrink tube over top but it isn't necessary.

I use Kevlar thread so I can wrap faster, then epoxy. But I like it really clean. shrink wrap is ok but comes out bulkier to me.

I use fly tying thread, and then coat it with brush-on super glue, putting a drop of accelerant on it to make it set up more quickly.  That leaves a smooth enough surface that I can snell my line, to get a better hook set.
