Tickness Lexan Bib

Recommended Posts

I use 1/8" or 3 mm. I caught about half of the time rivers, lakes with rock. I also troll some. I let them bad boys bounce off the top of the rocks, some times with no choice. I get hung up in a gap between the rocks while trolling to. A lot of stress happens with this and it probably happens at or near the lip.

I sometimes modify the front of the lip by filing the leading edge. That thickness is easy for me to get. I'm sure others use something different.

Nice looking bait to.

No complaints from me,

Dale

Great pic.

The lure looks like 4" length.

It all depends how far out the lip sticks and how wide is the lip and I am assuming polycarbonate (Lexan).

If the lip sticks out 1.5" or less and the width is 3/4" or more, then 2mm thick would be fine.

Longer or narrower and 3mm would be better.

Wow, I need to watch this auto correct and my spelling! "I caught", should be "I fish".

Dave as you know this first set of baits where specific to a trip that I was getting ready for. This is my next step to go thinner for smaller baits in the future.

I will get some board from LPO and give that a try.

Dale

By the way Dave, they did pretty dag gone good to.

For me, the thickness of the bib is directly related to the length of the bib/bill.

The longer the bill, the thicker the material.

I use 1/16" lexan or circuit board for my square bills, and med. divers, if the line tie is in the lure.

If it is in the bill, I use 1/8" lexan, and file/sand the bottom edge of the bill so it is only 1/16", in order for the lure to dive more easily and deeper.
