Recommend A Frog Rod?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Can you recommend a decent frog rod that won't break the bank? I've tried ordering a couple on the web and have so far ended up with rods that are more suitable for worming than frogging. Looking for something with plenty of backbone, but with a soft enough tip to allow for good casting accuracy.

thanks,

Ben

Depends on how you fish a frog. I fish a lot of heavy cover with a frog so I use an MH Fast 7'6" flipping stick. Shimano Sellus and Bass Pro Shops GS are both under $60.

I've also fished 7'11" Xtra heavy Xtra fast before too. Pretty impressive when you drag a 7 pounder over and thru cattails and pencil tulies.

Buzz frogs go on an MH moderate 7' rod. The Sellus 7' MH fast is not as fast as some others so it does pretty good. Again under $60.

If you have the cash it's pretty hard to beat St Croix accuracy in labeling, but @ a couple hundred bucks each I can't afford to many of them.
