Quantity Of Baits Per Gallon

Recommended Posts

Do you guys calculate baits per gallon of plasitol with sprue recycle, without or modified ways?

I would welcome information concerning how many BTS 702 / 706 / 708 Craws a gallon of plasitol ultimately yields versus potential yield.

Obviously, direct recycling for a laminate bait is not an option & Recycling is limited on light colors as the plastic only has a certain amount of reheat capability.

Thank you.

rough estimate they will take about 2oz to fill 4 cavity mold.

you could probably almost double if you were doing single colors and re-melting the sprues

so that's basically 250 craws per gallon. would be lower if you were doing tons of different colors. or more if you were doing the same color. (there's always left over plastic in the injector and bottom of your cup/pot)

In 55 gallon drums, My plastic is sold by the pound. I simply weigh the bait and do the math. With my presto pots I simply toss the sprues back in the pot and keep going. My pots are tilted forward so the plastic gravitates toward the valve. When injecting I simply stop the mixer and fill the injector right from the pot. On some occasions I fill a Pyrex cup from the valve and then fill the injector from that. Clean outs from the pot and any other bits are saved and used next time I run that color. Very little waste and I don't worry about re-heats. Two color sprues sometimes create a useful color or you can always go black.
