CNC Molds N Stuff
I know this sounds like a total newbie question... but only because it is. What is the most common wire size for off the shelf spinnerbaits? What is the most common wire size for off the shelf buzzbaits? I know some like Willy Wackers use a thinner wire, and some big fish hunters may use a heavier wire, but what constitutes normal, light, or heavy wire diameter? Basseducer
I agree with toadfrog, but I have seen buzzbaits with .050 wire up around the Cal Delta.

DaBehr
When I was starting I used the info from the Do-it mold and what Barlow's recommends. For example for my favorite spinnerbait: http://www.barlowstackle.com/Do-It-Ultra-Minnow-Spinner-Bait-Molds-P279C57.aspx Andy
21xdc
I use .040 or .041 minimum for any spinnerbait I make... I also use .050 for all my buzzbaits.
smalljaw
The most common sizes you see on the shelf for spinnerbaits and buzzbaits are 3/8oz and 1/2oz. As for wire sizes, the most common is .035" for spinnerbaits with a lot of larger companies using .040" for 1/2oz models, I myself like .035" for 3/8oz and 1/2oz. For buzzbaits, the most common wire size is .050" - .052", I've made buzzbaits with .040" and it works on a 1/4oz buzzer but on a 3/8oz and 1/2oz the wire bends too easily from the fish pulling it down and so .050" seems to work better and it is what most off the shelf baits use.
