Pourboy bait

New Old Guy

Recommended Posts

Hey there.  I was here years ago, but tried and tried to figure out what name I posted as, but noooooo.

Anyway I just re-registered using PourBoy bait.  I had to think of something quick.  If it's too close to any ones name already being used let me know.

But,  the main reason I signed up again was, I was just asked to pour a copy of a squid bait a friend bought on his way to a San Diego tuna trip.  One flat side so should be a breeze to make a mold and get started.

That got me thinking though and figured I would ask if any body is already doing a nice big (5'' +) squid with tentacles?  Life like is always a plus but fish are dumb and I'll try anything!

Show me what you have if you are salty.  Thanks.   PourBoy

Thanks Bob.  I guess I'm going to have to work my way back in before any body will share.  Understandable I guess.

I'm not interested in making money,  just want to help some bud's.

I fix their reels, pour lead for them and pour simple plastics.  I hope to eventually pick up some injection knowledge.

I know TU is the place to be. (Along with 'Green Acres').

I have to hit C-list for a microwave to recycle,  my wife tossed out my old one because it sat too long.

I don't remember ever reading about a squid bait here.  Maybe a striper site's forum would have something.

Dan Warme brought the Tora Tube, a salt water squid bait, into freshwater bass fishing.  That's all I know about squid baits.

Try doing a search for squid in the search tab.

Don't know anything bout saltwater, but I know what a squid looks like..... Would be an easy body to carve, and if you do a plaster mold could carve the tentacles in the plaster... Easier than trying to get em all laying flat..... 2 piece injection mold would be my choice, unless you're better at pouring than me

Thanks everyone!   The bait he gave me to copy has the big double curly tails with 2 straight 1-1/2" 'legs' in between. And a slightly bulbous upper body, with a couple of wings by the head.  You know,  like a squid, lol.  Not a B2.

JRam - definitely not up to par with my pouring without practice.  I really enjoyed it in the past so will gear up pretty quick.

Mark P - my niece lives in Oakley by the way.

Thanks for the links, all.

Well I didn't want to start another thread without something new to say, but I've discovered a couple of things.....

I was here 10 years ago,  I thought it was a few.  Old age makes your time go by real fast.

And there was a guy posting as Pourboy plastics 10 years ago,  even had a website link. (dead link).  So I'm just going to keep the moniker,  and if he returns from the twilight like I did, we'll talk.

I just reread my response to Jrammit. I meant his pours were going to be a lot better than mine, as I'm out of practice.

The darn written word can change what you mean very easily if not used correctly.

I knew what you meant... In the days of autocorrect and multiple abbreviations, one must learn to read past the text sometimes

I'm not the steadiest hand in the west myself... But I get by, and I learned to take pictures from the "good angle"
