Tuning spinners and beetle spin?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I've been trying to do this myself but for some reason I can't seem to get my head around it. What should I do in terms of tuning spinnerbait and beetle spin wire forms?

For example, if my beetle spin is starting to run sideways, i.e. if the bait was running directly towards you at eye level, instead of the the blade being at 12 o'clock and the jig and trailer at 6 the blade is say at 2 and the bait at 8, what should i bend in what direction to get it swimming correctly?

Thanks for the help guys.

Cheers,

Ces.

Remember this, it isn't only the wire that causes a spinnerbait to run on its side. A lot of major brand spinnerbaits use blades that are too big , they work fine for  slow and moderate pace retrieves but approach anything near what I would call a fast retrieve speed and the bait will lean to one side. So if the wire is coming out of the head straight  and the blade arm is in line with the hook and body then it will run fine unless the blade is too big. What happens is the torque of the blade spinning wants to pull the wire down, to combat that use a size smaller blade.
