Flip flop paints

Hey guys,

I need to match a color change bait for a guy, it looks blue then red or purple at an angle. I have used smith color before. Is there a better choice?

Flip color paints are available.  I'd check the Wicked lineup and any brand sold for hobby car painting.

Createx irridesent may work. Or powders

I am experimenting now with flip powders mixed in a clear base. I tried over a white base and gives a lil effect. I think its supposed to go over a black base though.

OK so I just shot my new Createx Irridesent Electric Blue.  It is blue and def see it turn to a violet at different angles. Should be what you want.

Check out Faskolor Faschange colors or Golden Interference colors. I like the results with these paints. I haven't tried Smith colors.

Wildlife colors has a blue/red flip flop paint.   That might give you color change you are looking for.

No it's a custom wart someone painted. It almost looks like blue pearl with purple irridescent over it.

So the createx actually shifted more before the clear. Not so much now.

I use the Createx colors and love the pearls. I get the effect you want by using a black base and layering different color pearls on top. The lower squid lure was done that way...

Do you just lay the colors over each other or do you have to shoot them  at different angles?

Try thinner clearcoat - It might work better.

Sorry BobV didn't catch your question until just now. I sprayed opaque black, then pearl purple on top of that-how much purple depends on how much you want the black to show through it. Then just lay different color pearls in specific areas, with the brush far enough away to get a nice fade with the over spray.

Better result with the Createx iridescent blue. You can barely dust a violet pearl over it too for more effect.

Pearl paints do shift a little. But the pigment in color shifting paints and powders give a much stronger effect. There are also some transparent films that can be applied that shift colors, but they are very labor intensive.
