Save your epoxy brush

Recommended Posts

You can reuse your epoxy brush over and over and over if

you do the following.

Get a small plastic bottle that is impervious to Acetone.

Drill a small hole in the cap, smaller than the middle diameter

of the brush.

Pull the brush handle up through the cap until it is very tight.

Fill the bottle with Acetone until it is above the bristles of brush.

You can now screw the cap on and the brush will stay straight,

clean and soft.

Clean out the bottom of the bottle about every 10 baits.

And refill with fresh Acetone.

The pictures tell it all.

Great Idea Coley!

I faced this problem earlier this morning after I coated my first two lures but I used a metal can, covered it with plastic and poked a hole on top and kept it in place with a rubber band.

Your idea is a smaller and nicer way to go.

BTW, how do you dispose of the acetone? Thanks!

P.S. Thanks for your help in a different post.

Actone evaporates very fast. I use an old medicine bottle and if I leave the cover off it ill evaporate in about an hour. the evaporation actually cools the acetone to te point that condensation will form on the outside of the bottle.

To answer your question. When I clean an epoxy brush I stir it in the acetone for 20 seconds or so shake it off 2 or 3 times and use it right away.
