HOOKS FOR BLACKFISH AND FLUKE JIGS

Recommended Posts

Seeking info from the group that pours their own Blackfish and Fluke (Summer Flounder)  Jigs please

Blackfish Jigs

I have the Do-It Flat Head Jig Molds  (1.5, 2, 2.5 oz mold)  and the (3, 4oz)

Also using the Banana Jig Mold (3/4, 1, 1.5, 2oz mold)

For hooks I have been using:

Eagle Claw # 635 size 7/0

and

Mustad 32786BLN  size 6/0

I gave several to friend and he had these hooks straighten out on blackfish.

Curious to know what other brands, model # and size hooks guys are using in either these molds or for their blackfish jigs.

Fluke Jigs

Using the Do-It Ultra Minnow jigs.

Have the molds from 1/2 oz to 8oz.

For the larger 4oz to 8oz jig molds  I'm using the Size # 2 Brass eyes

For the hook I'm using Mustad 32786BLN size 7/0

Any recommendations on difference hooks, model #'s, sizes?

Appreciate all the input.

Not many guys here can help but I can tell you that as far as the hooks you are using, there aren't many that are heavier. For the 60 degree I don't know if you are going to find a heavier hook in a 6/0, the 90 degree the heaviest hook I'm aware of is the Owner 5319 and it comes in large sizes. I have almost no experience in saltwater so I don't tend to need super large hooks heavier than what you are already using.
