BassBull
I use a mold out of rtv, single side and the plastic grub tail touching the mold has a duller finish on the outside than the topside that isn't touching the mold. Is there a way to have both sides turn out nice and glossy our is it the nature of he mold? Thanks a head of time Bass Bull
woodsac
Try this. Read the info in this link. When you're done, click the link I provided in that thread, and there's more info. http://www.tackleunderground.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=3388&highlight=mold+oven
GB GONE
I bought some RTV molds off Ebay and had the same problem. The oil trick works like a charm just be sure to coat the whole mold surface. Small brush works great and then you can work it into the tight spots. I reapply after about 8-10 baits with my molds and store with a thin layer also. I tried heating mine but that just didn't do the job. Good luck!!! basskat
Mineral Oil is a great release agent for molds also. Silicone, plaster, or fiberglass. Works on all of them. It's cheap and a little dab will do it.
jaybar
Basskat Won't Mineral Oil harden your baits after time? I could be wrong but I thought I have read in other posts mineral oil would harden your baits over time. Jay
basskat
If it does I can't tell it. I don't add that much, just a real light coat. I don't add it to my packaged worms, I use worm oil for that.
