Ice rod winding check

I’m building a custom jigging rod with a SKSS real seat and my blank butt is 5mm the smallest winding check I can find is 7mm ID what’s the best way to build up the blank to fit, any help will be appreciated... thank you

Not sure if you figured this out or not. I'm new to this forum. I build a lot of ice rods in the fall\winter. I just use wrapping thread under where the oversized winding check butts up to the handle. Keep adding layers until you have a snug fit. Then apply finishing epoxy. I usually coat over the winding check with the epoxy to give it a smooth transition to the blank.
