High Temp Mold Silicone

Recommended Posts

What  type and brand of high temp silicone do you guys use to fix  or fill gaps in your Do-It molds? It has to handle many repeated pours of hot lead. Thanks in advance

Red Rtv high temp works for me but I don’t pour the numbers you do. Permatex makes it and it is readily available at most auto parts stores.

Yep, go to the auto parts store and get the Permatex High Temp Red RTV Silicone Gasket Maker.  https://www.permatex.com/products/gasketing/gasket-makers/permatex-high-temp-red-rtv-silicone-gasket/

I use it on my Midwest Finesse jig mold, specifically in the hook eye part of the cavities. I have poured about 1200 1/16oz jig heads so far and it is still holding up, in fact I have all the cavities done with it and it works well and so far is lasting. The last thing is the temp range, it says it is good to 650 degrees but I pour at 725 with harder lead and like I said, no issues at all and I've used my mold hard.
