Painting plastics

7 posts in this topic

I recently made a POP injection mold of a paddle tail swimbait. I'd like to paint the top black or blue or green. What paints do you guys use? I tried using a permanent marker on a piece of scrap, but it leached into the plastic.  Also, I'd like to put eyes on them but super glue damages the plastic. (at least on the store bought ones) How do you guys stick them on and make them stay?

Lureworks has the best paint by far. Check out their site.

Colure is safer and needs to be dipped in plastisol

SB Coat requires excellent mask and ventilation but is super durable.

It depends by permanent marker: if you use a oil based marker, then it will work to bleed inside soft plastic, instead if you will use an alcohol based marker, as a Copic one, then it will rest on the surface. Moreover Copic markers and similars can be air brushed, for instance I use the Spritzer pump with success.

Bye
