The easy way I imagine would be split rings, but I’ve seen some attached directly to the eye of the hook. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Miller27 Posted August 13, 2018 Report Share Posted August 13, 2018 I use a figure 8 link and a straight shank spinnerbait hook. the figure 8 link has an open eye, put the eye of the hook in the opening, place the other end where the eye of a jig hook would fit and close in the mold. after you pour it you can open the other end of the the figure 8 link, powder paint it and put the blade on. the link is not forged like the hook so you can open and close it easily with a much tighter fit. mark poulson Posted August 13, 2018 Report Share Posted August 13, 2018 My friend pours my 3/8oz and 1/2oz weedless arkie head jigs with Mustad 32786 BLN hooks, 4/0, and I can open the eyes with an awl and hammer to get the blades on, and then squeeze them closed again with a pair of pliers. You open the hook eye after you demold the jig. That way if it breaks you just dunk the lead and toss the hook. If opens then you move on and paint.
